The Meal Support Package
If you need support and encouragement during meals, this package is designed for you! Meal support involves coaching you, in real-time, through the major barriers many people face in recovery from eating disorders. The coaching sessions are tailored to your unique needs and challenges in recovery. Whether you’re feeling anxious about going out to eat, uncertain about what to order, paralyzed by seeing calorie counts, scared about eating in front of others, and/or anxious during the eating experience, meal support coaching can help!
During coaching sessions we will work together to:
Set a goal for the session
Process feelings that arise during the anticipation of dining out
Get in touch with your physical hunger cues
Make food item selections that nourish your body and are satisfying
As you eat, reframe eating disorder thoughts that keep you from fully nourishing yourself
Process feelings that arise during the actual eating experience
This package includes:
One 30 minute assessment
Three 1 hour meal support sessions
Tailored goals
Once a week email or text support
We will work together to choose restaurants close to your home base. We will start with a restaurant type that is least anxiety producing (e.g., a coffeehouse). The second and third sessions will be different restaurant types (e.g., quick service lunch café, ice cream shop) in order to build your confidence in eating a variety of foods in different restaurant types.
