Back-to-School Snack Idea #1
I’m starting a five-part back-to-school snack series. Amazingly, kids in Georgia are headed back to school as early as this week! Here are some fun new snack ideas that are great for kids and adults alike!!
Our first snack would also be a terrific breakfast. I like the balance of nutrients and flavors this snack offers. It’s customizable- if you experience food allergies, don’t eat animal products, or are ready for a challenge in your recovery from an eating disorder this snack works
Snack idea #1 - Stuffed Fruit!!
Apples 🍎 and pears 🍐 (or firm peaches) cut in half lengthwise then cored become an excellent vehicle for stuffing and topping. There’s a lot of room for creativity and they’re a customizable snack! My PB & J apple in the photo is stuffed with peanut butter and topped with freeze-dried strawberries 🍓 and pretzel pieces.
Here are some ideas for stuffing and topping:
Stuffing: nut butters, chocolate hazelnut spread, cookie butter, plain or flavored cream cheese, other soft cheeses, chocolate hummus (can’t weigh in on the chocolate hummus, haven’t tried it yet!)
Toppings: chopped nuts, granola, cereal, crushed pretzels, dried fruit, chocolate or other flavored chips, cinnamon, crumbled graham crackers/cookies, crumbled crackers
Would love to hear the unique flavor combinations you all come up with!!
