What Meal Support Means to Me
I’m honored to share a testimonial from one of my clients (with her permission) about what in-person meal support has meant to her. If you have questions about what meal support is, and whether meal support would be beneficial for you, please click here for more information!
Thank you Brianna M. for sharing your story and your experiences!
“I met Nicole on an Instagram eating support page during that time in our lives where we were pretty much exclusively looking at people through screens. We were all trapped by ourselves in an alternate world where everything was virtual. Unless you were someone like me who works in a grocery store, or a medical professional, you probably didn’t see that many people in person. At first I thought I was lucky because I got to see people, but looking back, I’m not sure that version of hell was any easier.
Nicole works in the city of Atlanta where my family lives. I was living in Denver for several years but I decided to move across the country, in part, because Nicole agreed to meet me for breakfast in person. I met her on an unseasonably cold day in September. It was raining and we sat on a covered patio eating pancakes. I felt bad that she was so cold but at least I convinced a California girl to wear a coat. I’m not entirely convinced she owned one before that point.
All of those socially distanced breakfasts, in the many weeks that followed, saved my life. I believe in recovery and even “RecoverED,” but I also believe in treatment. Virtual treatment didn’t work for me. So without her, I wouldn’t be here.
I know that Nicole isn’t like most people. She runs towards fires instead of away from them. She continues to stay with me and her other clients regardless of the pandemic. Nicole, thanks for showing me how to walk through fires and the constant reminders that circumstances don’t have to be okay to be livable. I love you to the moon and back.”
